Back in 2000 there was a TV show that aired called ‘The Eleven O’Clock Show’. A spin off comedy show that did pretty well…

Only one problem though..

There was a skit that would show up every one to two weeks, the idiot in the picture on the left, but bugger me was he funny.

It soon came to the point where he was the sole reason that I would watch the show, and I’m pretty sure that was much the same for many other people I knew. That’s not to say that the rest of the comedy was in any way bad, it wasn’t, it was hilarious.. It was just that this guy Ali G blew everything else on TV out of the water.

Truth of the matter is, and this one is going to hurt many of you reading this… People really don’t care in general about much of what you are talking about..

… and I’m in that bracket as much as you.

I create content that is informative, teaches people how to do stuff so that they can get ahead. Which is great.. But by doing that I don’t get as much exposure due to there not being that big of an audience looking of that kinda stuff.

You’ll see what I mean if you watch this -

Kinda gives you permission to enjoy yourself more and not take it so seriously ;p

Become the change you wish to seeBecome the change you wish to see

- Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

Mahatma Ghandi is renowned the world over for his principles, gall and dignity under fire. By using non-violence and mass civil disobedience the man led many a conquest against his assailants, most notably leading India to her independence in 1947.

Not only being one of the world’s appearingly least likely revolutionaries he was also a great philosopher who took on the most modern of adversaries whilst living in a simple sustainable community, wearing traditional Indian robery on a vegetarian diet.

His teachings and wisdom have had a great effect on millions of people the world over. So many quotes of his have been so beautifully annunciated one can only revel in their clarity, my favourite of which is ‘Become the change you wish to see‘.

When taking a minute to really understand the words and phrasing, you soon begin to realise that such a seemingly innocent, softly worded sentence is in fact an enormous call to action, a challenge of such magnitude that most people shy away from it day and day out.

Become the change you wish to see

We all have our own vision of how we would like our micro and macro lives to be, the action to take time to envision it being so ineptly named ‘daydreaming’. Many people speak about envisioning how you want to be and how you want to live and becoming that person today. This again follows in the light of what the ‘Great Soul’ (translation of Mahatma from Sanskrit) is on about.

In my opinion there is far too much chess being played in the lives of modern men and women. I know myself that I am always viewing and trying to understand what the consequenses of my actions may be. I am very much one who does not want to negatively affect anyone in any way, but sometimes you have no choice if you want to follow the path that you believe in your heart to be the way that is best for all, for fulfilment of your personal, social and community desires.

The problem with the industry/community that I have chosen to become a part is that it is so frustrating when you see others consciously not become the change they wish to see. Thing is, you can never force this type of change on anyone, it has to come from within themselves and only then can you help them nurture it.

Why is it so important to ‘Become the Change You Wish to See

Become the change you wish to seeThe truth behind the matter is that more often than not we believe many of our problems are a result of external forces, where in realism most can be dealt with, sidestepped and overcome by a change within ourselves. Take a look at this post, ‘Perception‘, for an idea of how pretty much anything can be turned around.. Especially when you look at it form the right angle.

I have said already that there appears to be a bit too much ‘chess’ playing going on, which means that we are being directed through life by external forces. If you want to do something that you wholeheartedly believe in… do it. If you think that you can’t, find a way to. If you align yourself to the things that you hold true, away from others’ opinions you will open up a new side to what you are capable of. It’s not easy, but it is one of the most liberating things in the world, to align yourself to what you believe, to live it, to ‘become the change you wish to see‘.

The world needs people to do this more than ever before. Let’s use the example of what happened a few days ago. Wikipedia shut down it’s english site due to the possibility, and to protest the possibility, of the SOPA Act being passed in Congress. The thing that I find to be weird is that people are all talking about what sweeping powers people will have over others’ websites and content. But remember, this only possible if people recognise that power.

Let’s say you are the CEO of an ISP (Internet Service Provider) and some arm of the Government ‘forces’ you to unplug someone’s website from the internet matrix… you can always refuse. It is only through acquiescence that civil liberties are trampled.. (It also doesn’t help when the enforcing parties carry guns too admittedly). If everyone takes the stance of non-compliance with seemingly over the top legislation what do you have left? Unenforceable legislation, chosen by the people and for the people.

Anyway, I digress…

Only you know what it is that you want to achieve, what lifestyle you want to live and also what ethics you want to abide by to get there. I challenge you to heed the words of the ‘Great Soul’ and ‘become the change that you wish to see’. Change what it is that you do on the inside and manifest the world that you want on the outside.

I have embarked on a mission to do just that, and to help others too and Network Marketing is the only model that I have found that fits my ideals. I earn money by helping others gain their time and financial freedom. Something that I believe still blows the minds of many and hence why they continue to be sceptical.

I just want to tell you now that it is possible should you choose to go after it :)

Become the change you wish to see :)

Take the pressure offFor those of you who have gotten to know me over email you will begin to realise I don’t like too much pressure. I like to find the easy way through anything and often how you ‘picture’ something gives you the best results.

I could go into the Eckhart Tolle stuff here and tell you that you need to look at yourself speaking to yourself and all of the jazz (sounds weirder than it really is), but when something is pointed out in its simplest form, it resonates and makes comprehension so much easier.

Now, I got an email through from Rachael Macgregor, who is a fab UK marketer, pointing me over in the direction of Diane Hochman. If you have been in online networker space for any length of time I’m guessing you know who Diane Hochman is, she rarely needs an introduction and has a troupe of real diehard fans. I have known of Diane for quite some time but haven’t been exposed to her as much as some.

What came out of this email was a webinar that Diane did explaining her take on how she ‘runs’ her business.

When you see the attitude that she has about new persons in her arena, you will begin to understand how you can take the pressure off yourself when it comes to your business.

See why Diane is so popular and take a look -

Once you get the idea of what is being said you are closer to following Gary Vaynerchuk’s ‘Don’t be a 19 year old dude!’ phrase (If you don’t know what he means, Google it)

Put your name and email into the box on this page if you want access to a system that will do everything that Diane is talking about for you.

active and passive marketingWe all have a tendency to hide when we start out. Becoming one of the gregarious ones often takes a little time. The dipping of the toe into the water of networking is far too à la mode from the onset. I’m only pointing this out because we have all done it.

Blogging, article marketing anything distant from the phone or skype is the best place to hang out as a newbie, it feels good. I’m building a multi-million dollar networking business… Without the slightest bit of networking…

You can build yourself up a big business using these and other longer winded methods of getting people in fromt of what you have to offer, or you can hustle.

The first time that I heard the phrase ‘hustle’ in a network marketing context, was from the seemingly youthful wise man also known as Jonathan Budd. He was all about the ‘hustle’ for the first 3 months or so when he was building his business from his parents basement.

So what is ‘hustling’ in comparison to the comforting time intensive activities that we have all more or less become shyly good at, at some point in the past?

Well, you can break nearly all marketing into two categories -

Active and Passive Marketing

The truth of the matter is, if you want to build up a business with any speed you are going to need to become an officionado at the ‘active’… or the ‘hustle’ as JB put it. Calling people, networking on facebook and moving them to Skype as soon as you can, is active.. aka ‘hustling’. You’re in the game and chewing up the competition and spitting them out.

That might not be for everyone, certainly not the spitting bit, but I really want to make clear what techniques are going to get you ‘out there’ and in the game quickly, and what are the longer methods. The longer methods are not things that you shouldn’t do, but if you want to see results fast they shouldn’t be your focus, they should be more of an after thought.

Putting yourself in front of people, be it in a networking group down the road, or tapping up people on Linked In, is commonly known as real networking… or ‘hustling’ to the romantics of the group.

Sitting back waiting to pick up some leads whom have not been specifically targetted is known as passive marketing. That includes anything from blogging all the way to hoping to snag someone from Twitter on a random tweet. Can be great, but if you want direct results.. You’re going to need to be direct.

Arise over the fear and get out there and meet some new people, 10-15 everyday is a good ballpark to start with. You could tap them up on Facebook and chew the fat, see what they are up to, see if what you have to offer is something that may benefit them.

Remember though no pitching and get permission before you send any links :)

(Here’s a heads up on what you are really selling to prospects – What Are You Really Selling and to Whom? )

Now go get to it! ;p

Just a cheeky little something from the film ‘The Hustler’ and take note ;)

“You know, I got a hunch, fat man. I got a hunch it’s me from here on in. One ball, corner pocket. I mean, that ever happen to you? You know, all of a sudden you feel like you can’t miss? ‘Cause I dreamed about this game, fat man. I dreamed about this game every night on the road. Five ball. You know, this is my table, man. I own it.”
