I was driving home this evening and looked up over the other side of the roundabout to see a billboard, with an advert for a bank on it. The slogan read something along the lines of  ‘Come bank with us because we provide the best service’ (Tbh, it was a pretty generic slogan, just can’t remember exactly what it was)

Now, if you know anything about what they call ‘anchoring’, you will see that the advert implies that banks give a good service to their customers as a whole, this bank just happens to give better (Which, if you know anything about how banking really works, is an absolutely preposterous idea!)

“It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.”

Henry Ford

If I asked you, ‘How many students do you reckon there are in Manchester, maybe 8,000?’ You would probably pitch a reply in a different ballpark than if I suggested a number of around 80,000, bearing in mind you may well have no idea anyway. We all subconsciously anchor ourselves to certain factors in all kinds of circumstances. The big question is, where do you anchor yourself?

Key to Success No1

Take a look at your beliefs about yourself. Do you ‘know’ that there are certain things that you can’t do? How do you know? The game here is to unhinge any anchors that you may have about what you are not capable of. Are you living in the past? You couldn’t do something back then?… Are you the same person now?

Many people describe this action as focusing on, and dispelling any limiting beliefs, something you are going to need to do if you want to be successful.

Shortly after the billboard moment, the radio chirps up with an advert. ‘Unlimited broadband for X amount a month‘ followed by the quickly spoken T’s and C’s at the end stating that their was a fair use policy in place.

Now, this kind of stuff really gets my back up, how can something be unlimited and have a fair use policy?… It’s unlimited yet limited? It’s either one or the other for F’s sake! They do it with all kinds of stuff.

‘Buy this car from the dealership and get 6 months worth of free fuel!’

Then they proceed to tell you how much fuel you use in 6 months…. Really?

This is one that I like. The National Lottery over here has a new thing out to get more players where they guarantee to make X amount of millionaires per whichever draw. Let’s say that I am lucky enough to ‘become’ one of these winners, but I also have 30 rental properties, all with mortgages, averaging £50,000 each. Does that mean that I will be entitled to a windfall of £2,500,000 to clear off my debt and then put me into a positive of £1m, thus making me a millionaire?

I know all of this sounds a bit pedantic, but I’m beginning to think that if this kind of back-to-front is the norm, it is no wonder that things in the world are getting worse and everyone seems to be running around chasing their tail. Everything is not how it appears, there is no clarity.

Key to Success No2

Maintain clarity and focus in your business. Try not to spend time worrying about things like I have just written above (I spend a little too much time mulling over them). Instead, focus entirely on what you need to get done and do it.

I find that I like to read a few chapters of a book before I sleep at night, then often find myself blogging on a subject along the lines of what I have been reading. Always be increasing your ‘value’ (No trashy novels here!)

Just a side note for ‘value’. If you are new to the game of network marketing, anything that you learn (even in the earliest days) is going to be of value to others. Share what you learn from the off with your network (whether it be on Facebook or elsewhere). I learned an anacronym from Toby and Layla Black on this subject -

L earn

I mplement

S hare

T each

Without clarity you are just going to get bogged down in the things that don’t really matter to your success. Be laser focused and go achieve the life that you want!

Now for Perception. I know that you can achieve whatever you want, but do you?

Vive la Resistance!
