I love it when Gary Vaynerchuk talks about his best creation to date, his most ‘scalable’ app, ‘Ask Gary’. When you see sacalability from the other way round (utterly not scalable), I think you begin to get the picture. Poor old Gary spends/spent hours everyday replying to every question that got posed, and by virtue of the name of the app and to keep integrity… He couldn’t outsource lol
Now, you are in the art of scaling (if you are lead generating online). What we are all trying to do is to increase our audience but by only outputting the same. We could spend our time in 1 on 1 meetings explaining all about what we do online, what methods are working now etc, or we could be presenting infront of 500 people, or we could have 15,000 people reading different posts and content that we have created online, at any one time.
All we are doing is finding the best methods to scale our exposure… And the internet is pure genius for that.
I have been a follower of the mighty Dave Wood for quite some time and he has (only recently) nailed, from what I can gather, the whole principle of what we are all trying to do. Don’t get me wrong, he knew how to grow his business exponentially prior to his most recent successes, but it is becoming more apparent that he has broken through into the viral arena. His systems feed his systems, which make them expand exponentially in terms of leads and sales.. With 2.5% of a normal working weeks effort per system (and he has 3 currently). He, on most recent count, was getting anything from 4,000 to 5,000 leads per day, and still hasn’t filled up his 4 hours for his ‘must d0′ 4 hour work week lol
As you can prob guess, he is a much respected mentor of mine, but enough ass kissing, we are here to see what we can do to help your business. Oh yeah, I just remembered why I brought him up, he mentioned something the other day that is so true about ‘what to do’ when building your business.
What you need to do is figure out what you want the internal runnings of your business to be like, and build for that. May seem utterly simple logic, but we all miss it.
I want to be able to run my business from anywhere in the world, so I lean to the internet for most things. I want to be able to ‘plug in’ and get to work. I am building locally, but everyone I build with, is connected via the internet. It just makes sense.
Are you one of these people that is very one on one? Don’t get me wrong, it is certainly not a bad thing, just remember that you only have a certain amount of hours in the day, how can you make them the most effective. One on one meetings is probably the most inefficient means of production in our industry, unless obviously you are being paid by the other participant ;p
Try to scale up everything. How can you make your time accessible to the most people?
Creating content is obviously a great start, people can peruse it at any time, when you are away doing other things. I like to create ‘how-to’ videos in response to questions I get on Facebook. It takes just a little longer than answering the question in person, but I then have the content that other people can access.
I had a bit of a reality check last night, I am building a Twitter account up and have nearly 4000 followers (yes I use Tweet Adder). I was thinking that was growing pretty nicely, then I meet a guy who has 100,000 followers (and is building 18 accounts simultaneously). Err… Lightbulb moment.. I am still thinking ‘inside my box’ when it comes to scaling up my business. I have a 5 account license but only have one account running. I could have 20,000 followers, all nicely niched up to each account, if I had been switched on.
Less blow the doors off this stuff and start making some new records, the world is our oyster.
(There’s a motivator of mine… I would like to be in a position to mastermind with Mr. Wood at some point in the future on an equal expertise level. Be able to give him similar value insights into the things that I know, that he has given me in what he knows)
Vive la Resistance!
