After winning the book, ‘Increase Your Financial IQ‘, at the RichDad Education 3-day seminar I went to, I have finally got my butt into gear to start reading it!

Again, Mr.Kiyosaki hits you with some truths… that if you had thought about it properly, you could have figured out yourself. But the joyful bit about RichDad is that there is always a full explanation about all that is said. The books starts with the 1971 change from the Gold standard to the Dollar standard. From what I gather, that means that instead of all money being backed by ‘hard’ gold, it is solely backed by the cash in the system…. meaning if more money is needed it can be printed essentially.

Mr. Kiyosaki then explains an old method that the Romans used to use… It’s called ‘clipping’. Where money loses value over time… (the roman government would shave the edges of coins so they used less gold) . Therefore meaning that when the government dispenses it, it is at its highest value, it has its greatest ‘worth’ and as we get it, it becomes less and less valuable. In modern times they call this phenomenon ‘inflation’. The bit here that makes sense when you look at it is that, it is not the general prices increasing or ‘inflating’, it is the devaluation of the currency that is occuring, which it is designed to do! So, saving, in modern times, is possibly stupid. He then explains that ‘currency’ comes from the word ‘current’ like in electricity.. to keep its value it needs to keep moving.

If you still haven’t seen or read a RichDad book, I emplore you to do so. They are available from any good bookstore or from the4thmarketeer bookstore, on your left. Well they’re not really lol but I was so whacked out after today that I only lasted 15 mins b4 I had to pass out for a couple of hours.

The pace is not stopping and some really crazy information being shared. Everything from asset stripping to sandwich lease options (that is where it gets really clever).

RichDad – Great financial intelligence education – I recommend reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad to get the appetite whet, seriously cool stuff.

Rich Dad Education, or for those in the UK. This is where I found this course that I am on at the moment. It is a combination of raising your financial profile and investing in property.

Which then led me to The Wealth Intelligence Academy. These guys own the licence for RichDad Education in the UK and are the ones who are running the course over here – Get yourself in with these guys as soon as you can and get on with building a new world for yourself!!

Anyway, I am thoroughly enjoying my course and need to get an early night tonight otherwise I won’t be able to keep up tomorrow!!

Night Night

Hi…. and welcome…

So, this is the first post on my new blog. I suppose, really, that I should introduce myself and give you a rough low down on what this blog will be about.

My name is Benny. I am 32 and semi-obviously… a bloke. I live in the UK, and work for a living in restaurants.

I have been in the restaurant industry for, on and off, 15 years. 10 of those years with the company that I currently work for. I had an epiphany just before the beginning of this year and decided that enough was enough… Time to design a life for myself that fits better with with where I would like to be in the future. 2009 was going to be ‘my year of change’.

Bizarrely enough, when I was in my early 20′s, I was a bit of an animal, always drunk or high, and would tell my mates that I would be dead by 32 (I think I thought I was going to go out in some rockstar blaze of glory, but here I am with only 7 months of 32 left, and sober… scarily sober). Maybe, I am subconsciously starting a new beginning instead of hanging up my boots, or some herbalist karma bollocks like that…

All I knew at the beginning of the year was that I was going to have to do something different. I quit drinking, apart from on holiday this year, and tried applying for different jobs… The jobhunt lead me nowhere. At least nowhere useful. I can get jobs.. if I get an interview.. but unless it is in the catering industry I would have to start at the bottom again pretty much… Which means a cut in pay…

I turned my head to re-education because tbh that was the only thing I could really change that wouldn’t cost too much. I started to read a lot more.. all realistic self helpish type books, no romantic novels for me!! I became a huge advocate of the quote from Mark Twain ‘I have never let my schooling interfere with my education’.

Anyway, I digress. What I am supposed to be explaining to you is what this blog is going to be about. To put it quite simply, this is going to be a blog about what I am doing and stuff that I have used to get me here. Hopefully pointers and a help to anyone who fancies trying to do the same or similar.

There will more likely be a booklist of books that I think are good, seminars and topic posts, hopefully all kinds of cool info and places to hunt for more.

So, here I am in a hotel room in London. I’m going to be hitting the hay in a second because it is an early start in the morning, 7am, and will be embarking on my first course with the RichDad Education crew over the next 3 days.
