Here are a collection of Robert Kiyosaki’s introductory videos that certainly get the brain thinking. Some of these are the first taster I had to Rich Dad, and since then I’ve been hooked!

This is also a great introduction to one of my personal heroes, Robert Kiyosaki, for it was he alone that has started me on this quest! Plus I am trying to figure out what kind of thing would come out of placing him in the same room as Stephen Fry and the late Winston Churchill, over a late dinner fuelled with red wine Could possibly be the most incredible socio-intellectual meeting the planet has ever seen!

I’m not sure when these were recorded but they must have been in the last year or so. Some more great stuff from Robert Kiyosaki, explaining even further how we all need to increase our financial education.

One thing that I personally like about these, is that he makes full alignment of the fact that Dollar is decreasing in value, which we all know, but how also the that will correlate to any loans/mortgages etc.

What I would like to know is if the Dollar continues to drop and the speculated Amero comes into full swing, loans and mortgages will surely be razed to a nil value. I am probably wrong in my thoughts, but if people switch to the Amero from the dollar, the demand for the dollar will fall, decreasing its value more rapidly. As existing loans and mortgages are in Dollars surely borrowers could be onto a winner? If anyone has any thoughts on this, or could enlighten me on the subject please do!

That is the key to ‘New Capitalism’ as Robert Kiyosaki would call it.

BUT!!! Before you all go out and whack new TV’s and cars on the credit card, you gotta be smart. Mr Kiyosaki makes the 2 different types of debt very apparent! There is good debt and bad debt.

Good debt is debt that makes you money, bad debt costs you money. Simple I know, but we all have a tendency to get it wrong! Basically, the difference is Assets vs Liabilities. An Asset is something that puts money in your pocket every month, a liability loses you money every month.

For example -

Car = liability (unless it makes you money as a Taxi for instance)

House = liability (unless it is rented and makes you money, all costs considered, every month)

Tbh, nearly everything that we buy is a liability, we buy it and it costs us every month, usually due to depreciation. So the plan of attack is to only buy things that make us money every month.

The greatest example of how more debt = more income is in buy to let properties. Just as long as the monthly rental covers the mortgage, management fees, maintenance etc and gives us an income on top, then we are winning! We will be earning passive income. Basically, once set up, we get money from it ad infinitum. I like to envisage assets as little engines that once started keep running, producing cash, and occassionally need a little maintenance.

That is the ‘Get Rich in the New Captalism Plan’ that appears to have worked for many people.

I hear you say, ‘But I don’t want any debt at all’, which is fair enough… But think how long it will take to save up for a house for example without a mortgage… It could take 10 years! Why not turn every £1 you have into £10 with the help of the banks money? And still get a return? Just need to make sure that the figures add up, so it doesn’t end up costing you!

Bearing in mind we all have a penchant for being in debt, this is surely a goldmine solution to all of our money problems!!

After winning the book, ‘Increase Your Financial IQ‘, at the RichDad Education 3-day seminar I went to, I have finally got my butt into gear to start reading it!

Again, Mr.Kiyosaki hits you with some truths… that if you had thought about it properly, you could have figured out yourself. But the joyful bit about RichDad is that there is always a full explanation about all that is said. The books starts with the 1971 change from the Gold standard to the Dollar standard. From what I gather, that means that instead of all money being backed by ‘hard’ gold, it is solely backed by the cash in the system…. meaning if more money is needed it can be printed essentially.

Mr. Kiyosaki then explains an old method that the Romans used to use… It’s called ‘clipping’. Where money loses value over time… (the roman government would shave the edges of coins so they used less gold) . Therefore meaning that when the government dispenses it, it is at its highest value, it has its greatest ‘worth’ and as we get it, it becomes less and less valuable. In modern times they call this phenomenon ‘inflation’. The bit here that makes sense when you look at it is that, it is not the general prices increasing or ‘inflating’, it is the devaluation of the currency that is occuring, which it is designed to do! So, saving, in modern times, is possibly stupid. He then explains that ‘currency’ comes from the word ‘current’ like in electricity.. to keep its value it needs to keep moving.

If you still haven’t seen or read a RichDad book, I emplore you to do so. They are available from any good bookstore or from the4thmarketeer bookstore, on your left. ‘Life is a daring adventure…… Or nothing’     Helen Keller

I have been waning a little in my quest.. Yes, I have been working a lot at the day job, but not really enough to warrant an actual stop in activities outside. I don’t know, it  may have been the change in seasons (nearly always depresses me going into winter) or just a small lack of focus. Either way, I haven’t been doing as much as I could over the last week.

It is bizarre how things and perception can change in a short matter of time. I have been finding it hard to get my head around what I need to do, then out of nowhere comes a conversation, and later on, a text from a friend that puts the motivators back in.

First of all I spoke to my mum on the phone.. She had just been on the first round of the course that I went on, and thoroughly enjoyed it too. We started chatting, talking about our interpretations on all that we have learned in that respect and suddenly my juices were flowing again. The motivation was up, I wanted to start achieving. Just a little bit of exposure to someone who was looking into a similar avenue to me and the game was back on!

I have heard it many times that the people you hang around with can greatly affect your life, so I am going to need to surround myself, even more, with people who want to achieve what I want to achieve. I try to instill energy into people at work about what I am learning but they do not seem to get it nor want to know, which, I will be honest, disappoints me a little. They all have ‘dreams’ as I do, but to me, they are more fantasies because they are not prepared to go after them. I honestly don’t know if I will get exactly where I want to go at this point, but I will keep moving in that direction in whatever way I can.

Straight after the conversation with mum I went to the Post Office and mailed 3 books to her. Two Rich Dad books and a Richard Branson one. Mum was adamant that she should read up on some things about the whole philosophy of Robert Kiyosaki because it was something new to her that she was gripped with in the seminar. I made a point of mailing them straight away, as I didn’t want to stifle her enthusiasm in any way, so the sooner the better!

Later yesterday evening I got a text from my Polish mate Cezar (the one who introduced me to Rich Dad). He had obviously given this web address to his brother, a business man in Poland, also a Rich Dad follower. He said that his brother had some ideas for the4thmarketeer. Normally I would probably get a little defensive about my things, but that was a long time ago. So I replied that I would love to hear them. To be honest it would be great to bounce ideas off someone who, from what I know, is critically committed to what I am. So hopefully Cezar will give him my email address and we can start moving forward! All good stuff.

So, from being lacsidasical to back on the mission in just two conversations, I love it!!
