I don’t know if you have ever heard the phrase, ‘All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy’, but there is some truth in that.
If you are anything like me, you like to dive into what it is that you want to get done; The nice side of an addictive personality is that it can be a huge benefit if your addiction is something good for you, or worth your while, sorta like this interweb marketing thingy ;p
But, there are many people, myself included, who suffer from overwhelm, burnout, fatigue and disillusionment from time to time. One cause can simply be due to the lack of reward that you permit yourself. You work so hard in the begininning, don’t give yourself enough praise for the successes that you have, that you lose focus on possibly why you are in it at all. You end up deriving no pleasure from your project, that it seems a pointless waste of time.
If you work all day and don’t play ever and your name is Jack, you’re dull. Simple no?
My opinion about what you are doing (not that you should really care too much what other people think anyway ;p), is that you should take the time to recognise the achievements in what you are trying to do. For instance, by simply being in the game you are showing a certain resilience. Most people won’t even get to the court, let alone tie up their shoelaces.
Only you will know what successes are important to you, take the time to enjoy them
Take it from this guy… He knows what he is doing ;p (make sure you watch it to the end)
